Have you ever bought something
like, a washing machine, computer or
other equipment only to find it decides not to work the day after the guarantee
runs out. We usually have to pay for our own extended warranty on our
purchases.
Life itself comes with no guarantees. Sometimes things are
going just as we hoped and then something happens which causes us to lose our
peace and confidence in the future. All of us have had our ups and downs hopes
fears. Periods of happiness, sadness, joy, we pull through and get on with life
with no guarantees.
Turning to spiritual things. Where are the guarantees in any
faith movement or religion? If you were to investigate closely you would find
that all of them, bar one rely on good works to gain God’s favour and
entrance into heaven. The problem is at the back of your mind you are always
thinking have I done enough good works to pull me through. I would kindly say
to you. It’s not possible to enter eternal life by good works.
Bar one To
enter eternal life we must receive the righteousness of Jesus Christ. We were
created to do good works, but first we must be righteous in His sight for them
to be accredited to us.“For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to
boast about, but not before God. For what does the scripture say”? Abraham believed God, and it was accounted
to him for righteousness” (Gen15:6) Romans 4:2, 3.
Ephesians2:8, 9 :- For by grace you have been saved
through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works,
lest anyone should boast.
Romans 6:23 :-For the wages of sin is death, but the
gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
You are so precious that God gave His Son to pay the price
for your sin by the shedding of His blood on a wooden cross; otherwise you will
have to pay the price of your own wages, (see above).
Here is the guarantee!
Ephesians1:13,14:- In Him you also trusted, after you
heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having
believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. Who is the guarantee
of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the
praise of His glory.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is
eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23
Pray this prayer. (It’s good to say out loud so you
can hear your own confession, as reminder of what you have done)
Lord God I believe right now I am a sinner. Your Son Jesus
came to save sinners just like me by giving His life on the cross for my sin
and rising again with victory over sin and death. God forgive me in the name of
Jesus for all my sin and I put my trust in Jesus to give me eternal life
through the sacrifice He made at the cross for my sake. Thank you, Lord for
coming into my life. I believe I am a new person in Christ. Amen.
